OWEN FRIEND•BRAND DESIGNER•

Brand Designer & Strategist based in Cardiff, Wales.

I work with people who want to do things differently - people who care about how they look, what they stand for, and aren't afraid to push somewhere new.

Friend and Friends is me and a handful of trusted people that I bring in when a job needs them. I've done branding for breweries, bakeries, toy companies, startups, television and much more.

If your brand's a mess or you're starting from scratch and don't know where to begin, let me help you.

My work

I build brand identities from the ground up and bring tired brands back to life. I work across every part of your brand - logo, colour, typography, packaging and all of the important details that you may not have thought about. I take my time and I do it properly.

Who I work with

I've branded breweries, theatre companies and toy brands. On the surface they've got nothing in common but the work underneath doesn’t really change. I ask the same questions every time - who are you, what do you stand for, and why should anyone care? If we get these right, the work takes care of itself.

How I work

Every project starts with a proper conversation, then a workshop where we get into the nitty gritty and find what your brand actually stands for. From there I'll show you two directions: not just variations of a theme, but real and clear choices to react to. Every proof gets a video call, so nothing important gets lost in an email thread.

My Packages

Every brand turns up in a different state, so I don't do fixed prices. That said, most begin in one of three places: a tidy-up to get things back in line, a fuller refresh across print and digital or a complete rebrand from scratch.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Every project's priced for what it actually needs, but as a rough guide: a brand alignment starts at £1,000, a refresh at £3,500, and a full rebrand at £5,000. We'll land on an exact figure after a call, once I understand what's in front of us.

  • An alignment tidies up and brings consistency to a brand that's drifted. A refresh goes further - updating type, colour and assets across print and digital. A redesign rebuilds the whole identity from the ground up, logo and all. Not sure which you need? That's exactly what the first call is for.

  • Not at all. I'm based near Cardiff and love working with local businesses, but most of my work happens over calls and screens, so where you are rarely matters. I've worked with clients across Wales, the UK and beyond.

  • It depends on scope, but most run from a few weeks to a couple of months. I'll give you a realistic timeline after our first conversation. I'd rather take the time to do it properly than rush something half-formed.

  • Organised, ready-to-use files & brand assets including guidelines and templates handed over so you can confidently put your brand into the world. And if you need anything down the line, I'm not going anywhere.

  • Sometimes a tidy-up is all you need, and I'll tell you if that's the case. If your brand basically works but feels inconsistent, start with an alignment. If it no longer fits who you've become, that's when a full rebrand comes into play.
